Maha’s Home Birth Movie at 46 Years of Age from DVD from the Dance of the Womb DVD (Instant Download)

A$21.99

Produced by: Maha Al Musa

First Released: October 2009

Running time: 50 minutes.

At 46 years of age Maha Al Musa gave birth to her third child – it was a natural conception and then a natural home water lotus birth. Maha shares her homebirth in her inspiring birthing documentary style film, From the Womb to the Water, I Danced Out of My Mum.

Maha shows us how she uses belly dance movements (BellydanceBirth®) in the first stage of labour from her AWARD WINNING DVD, Dance of the Womb – A Gentle Guide to Belly Dance for Pregnancy and Birth, where she takes us through the BellydanceBirth® dance chapters.

It is wonderful to see her as she walks her walk and dances her dance in the beautiful surroundings of her home in the Byron Bay area.

The film starts with Maha in early labour at the local sacred Aboriginal Ti – Tree lake where Maha moves through her expansions (uterine contractions) by the banks of the lake surrounded by lilies, trees and water at sunset. She uses the BellydanceBirth® movements to ground her to the Earth, connecting with her baby and Nature in this tranquil place.

We then journey through Maha’s homebirth being invited into her sacred space to accompany her on this rite of passage journey with her sisterly support Liz.

The film also incorporates a conversation with Annie and Jayne; Maha’s homebirth midwives discussing BellydanceBirth®, birth tips, birth philosophy and the use of somatic practices. It has been creatively edited with beautiful music, footage and photos by birth photographer Katrina Folkwell.

Maha’s film breaks through the barriers placed in front of birthing women where medical opinion deems a woman over 40 being at high risk and not capable of birthing as nature intended, let alone at home! Maha’s positive message is that when we are healthy and well in body, mind and heart, possibility and positivity walk hand in hand in a mother’s decision-making to have sovereignty over her consent to birth with whom and where she chooses.

Maha’s HomeBirth Movie is a part of the full Dance of the Womb: A Gentle Guide to Belly Dance for Pregnancy and Birth DVD, an AWARD WINNING resource and a MUST HAVE for ALL pregnant women worldwide.

“Remember you are never alone on this journey; draw strength from the sap of the tree of knowledge passed from woman to woman…surrender and soften…as you dance to the rhythm of the music as you give birth to the rhythm of your body and the rhythm of Life.” ~ Maha

You can read her inspiring story in her beautiful crafted book, Dance of the Womb: The Essential Guide to Bellydance for Pregnancy and Birth, also available for sale in our shop.
