The BellydanceBirth® Dances are a part of the full Dance of the Womb: A Gentle Guide to Belly Dance for Pregnancy and Birth DVD, an AWARD WINNING resource and a MUST HAVE for ALL pregnant women worldwide.

BellydanceBirth® embraced as a prenatal dance preparation is not the cabaret style belly dance most people are accustomed to! These dance movements are SPECIFICALLY for preparing one’s BODY FOR BIRTH through the portal of the ancient, feminine expression. They can be embodied in pregnancy and then as a process through the first stage of labour as the uterus contracts and the cervix thins and dilates.

By choosing sound, breath, movement, being in upright positions, working with gravity, opening the sacrum and pelvis and creating optimal space for baby’s position through the pelvis, a mother can work with the rhythms of her body.

BellydanceBirth® further supports a mother to come into a place of personal safety during labour, accessing and activating the birthing blueprint that resides within her womb so that the positive birth hormones and endorphins can “turn on” the primitive parts of the brain where physiological birth has an opportunity to reveal its nature.

By practicing all the BellydanceBirth® movements in this video the goal is to put the Dance of Birth back into the hands, hearts, mind and womb of a mother/person with her baby. Maha shares her wisdom by supporting and encouraging mothers/persons to trust in their inner knowing and EmbodyBirth™ knowing that,

“The Living Book is within – read Her”.

PRAISE & PROFESSIONAL ENDORSEMENTS:

“The DVD, Dance of the Womb is an inspiring, informative and gentle journey into belly dancing for birth and beyond which can be enjoyed by pregnant women, midwives, doulas and childbirth educators alike. Maha ‘walks her talk’ when sharing with us the amazing birth of her third child at 46 years young. This DVD will, I’m sure, give women the freedom and confidence to trust their bodies to let go and allow themselves to discover their own rhythm in their labour and birth.”

– Endorsed by the “Australia Doula College” and the “National Association of Childbirth Educators Australia”, 2009.

“Your belly dance book and DVD are simply wonderful. I have mentioned them in the revised edition of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, which will be released in June 2010. You have done the world a huge service with this work. And the production values on the DVD are outstanding!”

– Christiane Northrup, MD

“Belly dancing this way in pregnancy and during labor helped to slow and center and ground me. It helped me stay in the moment and just be with my body and my baby. I believe Maha Al Musa’s gentle, spiritual approach to the movements made all the difference.”

– Lauren M.
